Easter break on the Gaia! Explore the Dutch IJsselmeer and relax on board!
On Thursday evening 8 pm you can embark in Lemmer. After putting your luggage in your cabin, the whole group comes together with the crew. Skipper Rob then explains what the schedule is for the coming days.
After breakfast on Friday, the lines are thrown loose and we set sail. Around 4 p.m. mooring is in a harbor and there is the possibility to take a walk. If you feel like it, you can help cook on board. In the evening you can enjoy the casual atmosphere and the conviviality on board.
On Monday the Gaia will be back in Lemmer at around 4 pm and you will say goodbye to the group and the crew.
Day 1 - Lemmer
Boarding in Lemmer from 8 pm
Day 2 - Enkhuizen
After a day of sailing we will arrive in the afternoon at the pittoresque village of Enkhuizen. The center of Enkhuizen invites for an extensive walk. The Zuiderzee Museum is also more than worth a visit. Imagine yourself in the 100 year period when you walk through the old streets and authentic buildings from the former Zuiderzee area.
Day 3 - Hoorn
After breakfast, we set sail to Hoorn. The history of Hoorn goes back to around 1200. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Hoorn experienced its greatest prosperity. The city was among other things represented in the Dutch East India Company. Many beautiful buildings in Hoorn recall this period. During a walk through Hoorn you can admire these beautiful buildings.
Day 4 - Urk
In Urk we moor right next to the beach. We are wonderfully quiet here. For children a great place to play and run extensively. The former island of Urk was bought by the counts of Holland in 1660 together with the island of Schokland, so that the waterway to Amsterdam could be better guarded. Moreover, Amsterdam served as a market for the fish caught by the Urkenaren. Due to the construction of the Afsluitdijk, the island of Urk was incorporated into the Noordoostpolder.
Day 5 - Lemmer
Along the impressive wind farm we sail back to our home port Lemmer, where we arrive around 4 pm
Sailing experience is not necessary on this sailing trip. Participating in sailing and running the ship is an important part of the overall experience on board and is a valuable asset of our voyages. The skipper always involves you in the planning during the trip
The daily routes for the ship depend on the weather and wind conditions. The captain determines the exact sailing program per day and consults this with the guests. A bit of adventure is part of this trip.
